Queensland students are being urged to showcase their digital skills by entering the 2025 Premier’s Coding Challenge, which is now open to students in Years 3 to 10.
The annual competition encourages participants to develop an app, website, or digital game that addresses real-world problems and drives positive change. Entrants will create solutions linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with winners sharing in a $15,000 prize pool.
Last year’s competition saw a record-breaking 450 entries from 126 schools, highlighting the growing interest in coding and technology among young Queenslanders.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said the challenge provided valuable opportunities for students to develop essential skills for the future.
“This challenge helps to prepare students for a career in the digital world by fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity,” Mr Langbroek said.
“We want more students to pursue careers in STEM, and it’s exciting to think this year’s cohort could include Queensland’s future innovators and creators.”
He said the government was committed to increasing STEM education, with an additional 200 teachers being trained each year in STEM or inclusive education.
Submissions close on 12 September 2025, with winners to be announced at an awards ceremony in Brisbane on 25 November 2025.
More information, including details on how to enter, can be found at education.qld.gov.au.
